SAY IT LOUD // BPCMLS and Black Arrow

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The newly formed Black Players for Change (BPC) of the MLS has partnered with Black Arrow (FC) to release a documentary featuring intimate accounts from the players about the origins of their organization, and their protest at the July 2020 “MLS is Back Tournament” in Orlando, FL., where 170 Black MLS players, coaches and staff took the field before the opening match to stand in solidarity with those protesting for racial equality and human rights.

The documentary has been strategically set at 8 minutes 46 seconds run time (a reference to the unjust police killing of Minneapolis, MN resident George Floyd), and features representation from Black athletes across the league including Ray Gaddis (Philadelphia Union), Kei Kamara (Colorado Rapids) CJ Sapong (Chicago Fire), Sean Johnson (NYCFC) and Jeremy Ebobisse (Portland Timbers) and others. Say it Loud lays bare the heart of Black Players for Change with exclusive interviews and clips from founding members and some of the biggest stars in MLS. These interviews reveal a level of passion and vulnerability unlike the sports world has seen in the Black Lives Matter movement.

About the BCPMLS

Launched on June 19, 2020 to honor Juneteenth and the emancipation of Black Americans, the organization (Black Players For Change) pledges to address the racial inequalities inside the MLS, stand with those fighting racism in the world of soccer, and positively impact Black communities across the United States, Canada, and internationally.
