Black Arrow DC Takeover

Overview

On July 19th, during a brief break in the Women’s World Cup action, Black Arrow took over Washington D.C. for a one-of-a-kind night that brought together the worlds of soccer and Black culture under one roof.

More than just a watch party or a social — this was a celebration of community, creativity, and the power of the game to connect us all.

The Experience

Hosted by Poet, Jalil Anibaba, and the crew from 5 A Side Pod, the night set the tone for what happens when football meets culture, conversation, and music.

The soundtrack for the evening was curated by Tim Fields and Call Me Flow who kept the vibes high and the dance floor moving all night long.

The energy was authentic, the room was packed with stars and creators, and the atmosphere proved once again why Black Arrow’s mission — connecting Black culture and global football — resonates so deeply.

Impact

  • Cultural Fusion: The event blended football fandom with Black creative culture in a way that felt effortless and true to the community.

  • Community Building: Brought together players, fans, influencers, and creatives to connect beyond the game itself.

  • Platform Amplification: Extended Black Arrow’s reach and reinforced its reputation as the home for culture-driven football storytelling and events in the U.S.

Moments Captured

The night was documented through the lens of AJ Waugh, whose imagery captured the energy, style, and spirit that defined this takeover.

This D.C. takeover was more than a party — it was another marker in Black Arrow’s mission to celebrate and elevate Black voices in the global game. With the Women’s World Cup as the backdrop, this night was proof that the culture off the pitch is just as powerful as the game on it.
