PROJECT OVERVIEW
As part of Austin FC’s 2024 kit launch campaign, Black Arrow teamed up with the Major League Soccer club to spotlight their new kit, and represent the culture of the city with ATX rap hero, Kyyd Jones. Black Arrow was able to amplify Austin FC’s goal of properly tapping in with culture and the community. The Armadillo kit pays homage to Armadillo World Headquarters (AWHQ), an iconic and globally recognized concert venue that flourished from 1970 to 1980. AWHQ has been credited as a cultivator of Austin’s creative, vibrant, and “all ways welcome” spirit that earned Austin’s famous moniker as “The Live Music Capital of the World” The City of Austin declared Sept. 1, 2022, as Kydd Jones Day, celebrating the career and achievements of the Austin rapper who has been steady grinding on the scene since he was a teenager. “I wouldn’t expect anything less cause this is my city, Austin, Texas born and raised” - Kydd Jones at the club’s season launch event.
