What We Learned at Intuit Dome

Screenshot20260109at12.57.54

A behind-the-scenes look at the WE OUTSIDE Soccer Fest and what it taught us about building for 2026.

In July 2025, Black Arrow FC partnered with Destination Crenshaw to produce WE OUTSIDE Soccer Fest — a culture-first fan experience on the Intuit Dome Plaza during the FIFA Club World Cup Final.

We built a grass park in the middle of the plaza. An 80-foot LED screen. DJs from the diaspora. Food trucks from the Crenshaw District. Street soccer tournaments. All-day vibes.

The event was featured in Discover Los Angeles and covered by KTLA. More importantly, it taught us lessons we're carrying directly into the 2026 World Cup.

Here's what we learned.

Lesson 1: Culture Is the Product

The easiest mistake to make when producing a watch party is treating the match as the main attraction and everything else as decoration.

We flipped that.

At WE OUTSIDE, the culture was the product. The DJs weren't background music — they were programming. The food wasn't concessions — it was curation. The street soccer wasn't filler — it was participation.

People came for the match. They stayed for the experience. And when they left, they didn't talk about the score — they talked about the feeling.

That's the model for 2026: build experiences where the culture is so present that the match becomes one part of a larger whole.

Lesson 2: Venue Matters More Than You Think

Intuit Dome Plaza gave us scale, infrastructure, and visibility. But what made it work was the partnership with Destination Crenshaw — an organization rooted in the community we were trying to serve.

That partnership changed everything. It meant the vendors were local. The nonprofits were real. The audience felt ownership because the event was built with them, not just for them.

For 2026, we're applying the same principle: every venue we work with has to be rooted in community. Black-owned. Neighborhood-connected. Culturally credible.

You can't fake that. And the audience knows the difference.

Lesson 3: The Diaspora Shows Up When You Build for Them

One of the questions we got before the event was: will people actually come?

The answer was obvious to us, but it's worth stating clearly: diaspora fans are not a niche audience. They are an underserved audience. There's a difference.

Niche means small. Underserved means large but ignored.

When you build something that actually speaks to diaspora identity — that reflects their music, their food, their culture, their way of experiencing the game — they show up. And they bring people.

WE OUTSIDE proved that the audience is there. The question was never demand. The question was always whether anyone would build something worth showing up for.

Lesson 4: Content Travels Further Than the Event

A single event reaches the people in the room. Content reaches everyone else.

We documented everything at WE OUTSIDE — not as an afterthought, but as a core part of the strategy. Photos, video, interviews, behind-the-scenes moments. The goal was to create assets that would live beyond the day.

For 2026, we're building content capture into every activation. Creator programming. Documentary crews. Social-first moments designed to travel.

The people who attend the event are important. But the people who see the content and wish they'd been there? That's how you build a movement.

Lesson 5: Community Benefit Has to Be Real

It's easy to say an event is 'for the community.' It's harder to structure it so the community actually benefits.

At WE OUTSIDE, we prioritized local vendors, gave nonprofits free space and stage time, and made sure economic activity stayed in the neighborhood. That wasn't marketing language — it was operational reality.

For 2026, we're building community benefit into every partnership tier. Nonprofit inclusion. Local vendor priority. Revenue sharing with neighborhood organizations.

If you're going to host an event in a community, you have to ask: who benefits? And the answer has to be more than just the organizers.

What Comes Next

WE OUTSIDE was a proof point. It showed that culture-first World Cup programming works — that you can build something rooted in Black communities, partner with institutions that matter, and create an experience people remember.

The 2026 World Cup is the next level. More cities. More days. More matches. More opportunities to build something that actually serves the diaspora.

We learned what works. Now we're scaling it.
