Black Arrow x Everyday People
Overview
Black Arrow FC was founded to bridge soccer and Black culture, uniting Black fans and communities through the beautiful game worldwide. In line with this mission — and inspired by the global energy of the FIFA World Cup — Black Arrow partnered with Everyday People, a global community known for creating vibrant, culture-rich gatherings, to curate a one-of-a-kind group travel experience during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Idea
Recognizing that Black fans often feel unseen in mainstream soccer spaces, Black Arrow and Everyday People set out to flip the script — by bringing the community together in Cartagena, Colombia, for an immersive cultural exchange trip. This wasn’t just about watching the World Cup; it was about celebrating Black joy, connection, and football with an Afro-Colombian twist.
The goal: blend sport, music, travel, and social impact in a way that felt organic, memorable, and true to both brands’ mission of championing Black communities worldwide.
What Happened
For eight days, travelers from across the diaspora converged in Cartagena — a city steeped in Afro-Colombian history — to cheer on the games, connect with local communities, and experience the city’s vibrant food, music, art, and nightlife scenes.
Highlights included:
Live World Cup screenings surrounded by friends, DJs, and local fans.
Cultural tours showcasing Cartagena’s rich Black heritage.
Beach parties, music events, and pop-up Everyday People gatherings that turned the trip into a celebration of global Black culture.
Community engagement moments supporting Afro-Colombian communities, creating meaningful connections beyond tourism.
The Impact
The Cartagena experience was more than a group trip — it was a proof point that Black Arrow’s mission to unite Black soccer fans can transcend borders and reimagine how the global game is enjoyed. The partnership with Everyday People amplified this vision, merging football fandom with culture, community, and impact — setting a precedent for future destination experiences rooted in Black identity and soccer culture.
This inaugural World Cup trip laid the foundation for Black Arrow’s continued work at the intersection of sport, travel, and Black cultural connection — showing the world what football looks like when celebrated by the people who live it.
