Jayden St. Paul: Black Arrow x Grassroots & Beyond
Overview
It wont' rain forever is a raw, honest storytelling project featuring Jayden St. Paul — a talented young goalkeeper who came through the ranks at Norwich City Football Club. At just 20 years old, Jayden was forced to retire early due to a devastating knee injury that ended his dream of playing professional football.
While the spotlight in football often focuses on fame, trophies, and wealth, thousands of players at every level face unseen battles — from career-ending injuries to the mental health struggles that follow. This project exists to shed light on those realities.
Purpose
This story gives voice to the quieter side of the game — the side where young players like Jayden have to confront the loss of a lifelong dream and learn how to rebuild their identity beyond the pitch. By sitting down with us to share his journey, Jayden hopes to show other players they are not alone — and to help normalise honest conversations about mental health in football.
Impact
Raising Awareness: Highlights the mental health challenges faced by players who rarely make headlines but who carry the same weight of expectation and pressure.
Breaking the Silence: Encourages open conversations within the football community about struggles, loss, and life after the game.
Inspiring Others: By bravely telling his story, Jayden aims to help young athletes find hope, support, and the courage to speak up when they’re struggling.
Jayden’s playing career may have ended, but his story — and the conversations it sparks — continue. Together with Grassroots & Beyond, we remain committed to telling real stories that challenge the stigma around mental health in sport and champion the well-being of players at every level.
We thank Jayden for his honesty and strength. Please join us in sending him support as he embarks on his next chapter.
